Confessions of an over-loaded to-do list


Dear Reader,

I was looking at my to-do list yesterday, and some of the things that I continue moving from page to page were staring at me with major side-eye.

As I looked at all of the items I’d yet to cross off, I started noticing a few patterns:

➡️ I had scheduled more things for the day than I could actually handle. Am I a wizard? No. Then why do I keep doing this to myself?

➡️ Some tasks have been lingering for months. "Organize file cabinet" has basically become a permanent resident on this list.

➡️ Somehow, "buy more coffee" always gets checked off, but "finalize March accounting" remains untouched. Priorities, I guess?

➡️ "Cancel free trial" is still hanging around. Should I just assume I’m paying for that app I’m not using forever at this point?

It’s wild how my to-do list had turned into more of a wish list. It felt like an ever-growing document filled with things I intend to do but never actually tackle.

So after I came to terms with the fact that this list wasn’t actually serving me, I made a decision.

I decided to stop treating it like an impossible checklist and instead made it a tool that can actually help me move forward.

Instead of trying to cram in 10+ things in a day, I focused on just three things that truly matter. The ones that, when done, make everything else easier.

And while I didn't get to the file cabinet, I did finalize my March books, which took way less the amount of time than I anticipated. Oh, sweet relief! 😮‍💨
